Freedom on the coastal road.
- Skip traffic jams on the SS163.
- Park easily in Positano, Praiano and Amalfi.
- Requires a valid licence and confidence on narrow bends.
- Best from April to October in dry weather.
Option
By Public Bus
Affordable, scenic, no driving.
- SITA Sud buses link Amalfi, Positano, Praiano and Ravello.
- Buy tickets in advance at tabacchi or via the Unico Campania app.
- Sit on the right side heading to Positano for the best views.
- Expect crowded rides in July and August — go early.

Take one of the earliest ferries from Amalfi or Positano to Capri. Early departures avoid queues. If you plan to visit the Blue Grotto by boat, you can jump straight on a shuttle from Marina Grande before heading up to Anacapri.

The highest point on Capri

From Anacapri, take the famous chairlift up Monte Solaro. On a clear day the panorama sweeps across the Amalfi Coast, Bay of Naples, Vesuvius and the Faraglioni.

Blue Grotto
Capri's most famous cave
Sea conditions permitting
Small rowing boats slip into the cave where sunlight sets the water glowing electric blue. Come down from Anacapri by bus, or arrive directly by shuttle from Marina Grande. Access depends entirely on sea conditions — the grotto closes when waves are rough, so check before you go.
